Greetings, or in the Tonga language, Ma-wuka Buti

My Name is Jonathan Sharpe, and I'm currently working in Zambia, Africa as a full time missionary.  You might wonder just how I ended up in a third world nation?  Just how I ended up so far from the small rural town in North Carolina that I grew up in?  Maybe in your mind you are questioning just why someone would leave the "comfortable life" of living in the United States, to live in a third-world nation on the other side of the world.

In 2011 I traveled to Africa, and while there, worked with an organization named Overland Missions.  There God deposited a desire for missions work, and a hope to return to Africa, and work more with the people that lived there.  So in 2012 I returned to Zambia, to attend OM's Advanced Missions Training course.  I finished the program in July, and at that point decided to come on staff and help lead ministry expeditions throughout countries in Africa, as well as other parts of the world.

My newsletter helps me to to connect and communicate what I am doing on a regular basis, both in the states and abroad.  Wether you are interested in supporting my efforts in missions work on a monthly basis, or if you just want to hear about all the awesome things God is doing in Zambia, as well as other parts of the world, I encourage you to sign up.

I believe that God doesn't just want me to travel throughout Africa and do missions work, but to encourage and show other believers everywere what is being done throughout the nations.  Hopefully everyone that gets a chance to read my newsletter will get a glimpse of more than just one man working in another nation.  My desire is that in some way my newsletter will help reveal things God wants in your own life, and maybe even possibly stir you to come to the mission field as well.  In the words of Jesus "The harvest indeed is plenteous, but the laborers are few..."

God Bless,

Jonathan Douglas Sharpe
